LASER DENTISTRY

At our surgery, you can only expect the best in both customer service, clinical skills and the use of advanced dental technologies.

Here at Dr Raymond Platon and Associates, we offer Laser Dentistry to address an array of various needs and concerns. This is made possible by the use of our Biolase Laser.

With laser technology, we can achieve soft tissue surgery, teeth whitening and pain therapy in the most gentle, effective, and time efficient way compared to traditional methods with quicker recovery time.

What Can Biolase Laser Dentistry Do?

We may use laser to treat your gums or other soft tissue in your mouth to:

  • Improve your smile
Contouring or shaping your gums using laser dentistry improve the appearance of your smile by safely removing excess gum tissue that may give you a “gummy” smile, or make your front teeth appear irregular in size or shape.
  • Remove oral growths
Quickly and safely remove growths or excess tissue in your mouth including gum tissue over an unerupted tooth, small “tags” called papilla, and growths called fibromas.
  • Fix a “tongue/lip tie” or prevent gum recession
Connections that restrict the movement of your tongue or cause your gums to recede can be “released” with less post-operative pain.
  • Treat periodontal disease
We can remove debris and bacteria between your teeth and gums that can cause bleeding gums, gum recession and even loss of teeth.

How does Laser Dentistry work?

The technology combines focused light energy producing an invisible beam for a highly precise, exceptionally gentle dental experience. This allows a wide range of procedures with multiple benefits to be achieved.

What are the benefits of Biolase laser dentistry:

  • More comfortable
Laser can perform a wide range of dental procedures without the heat, vibration and pressure associated with the dental drill. With many procedures, it’s possible to use less anaesthetic, or no anaesthetic at all.
  • More convenient
Using laser can get you in and out of the dentist chair faster, since it’s less likely that you’ll need an injection.

Not using anaesthetic can allow your dental professional to perform procedures that used to require more than one visit in a single appointment.

We can perform procedures that once meant an additional trip to a specialist, saving you even more time and money.
  • More precise
We can specifically target any tissues we want to remove without affecting adjacent tissues in surrounding sites. This method is in line with our belief of a safe and conservative approach in Dentistry.

With the use of laser, we can remove any excess gum covering cavity sites so that we can be more precise in removing dental decay and infected tooth tissue. This allows better access and contouring when doing fillings.

Laser Dentistry vs Traditional Dentistry

Your teeth can become discoloured or stained from the following :

  • Faster healing time
  • Less trauma to teeth and gums
  • Less anaesthetic for most procedures
  • Treating dental needs in more than one part of the mouth in one visit
  • Making dental care a more relaxing experience for you
